UTA is modernizing our fares system so you have fewer paper tickets to manage. That means smoother trips, capped daily and weekly fare, less hassle, and more time to focus on your day instead of your fare.
Here’s what’s coming your way on Sunday, April 12.
Reduced Fare
If you qualify for reduced fare — youth ages 6-18, someone 65 or older, or a person with low income or a disability — you’ve probably noticed that paying reduced fare can be tricky: ticket vending machines, retail outlets, or the Transit app all work differently. Keeping track of stickers, paper tickets, and cash can feel like a juggling act.
Starting April 12, buying and paying reduced fare will get simpler as we streamline the fare experience.

The Reduced Fare FAREPAY Card
The Reduced Fare FAREPAY Card puts all that stress behind you. One card, one process, no guesswork.
Once you apply and qualify, your card does the work for you. It automatically charges the best fare for every trip, so you don’t need to track stickers, transfers, or how much cash you have. You just tap on and tap off, and you’re ready to go.
It also saves you money. Your daily fare on regular UTA service will never exceed $2, and your weekly fare is capped at $8. Riding a premium service like FrontRunner, Ski Bus, or Express Bus? Your daily fare tops out at $4 and your weekly fare at $16.
We’re excited to make paying your fare simpler, easier, and more reliable.
(Note: The Paratransit 10-ride punch card will still be available for qualified Paratransit customers.)
How To Apply
If you think you qualify for reduced fare, this short video will walk you through the application process step-by-step.
Monthly Paper Passes
Starting April 12, monthly paper passes will no longer be available for regular or reduced fare. Moving to digital passes saves you time, keeps things simple, and makes riding UTA smoother for everyone.
You can still grab your monthly pass through the Transit app and keep your rides seamless.
The Bottom Line
When it’s all said and done, this is about you. Because you are UTA’s mission.
We Move Efficiency. We Move You.
